“I recently visited the Twin Arrows Resort in Flagstaff AZ and there was a copy of your Autumn 2018 Magazine with the cover of the Lowell Observatory on it in our room. I picked it up and started to browse through the various articles about the State and was totally impressed with the overall quality of your magazine. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the history of the different cities and even though I had visited AZ for many years I learned so much about AZ that I wanted to share it with my daughter who lives in Surprise AZ. I have lived in New Mexico since 1981 and thought what a great idea it would be if there was a similar magazine in New Mexico. But I am writing not to promote our state but to just thank you for a wonderful magazine and of course to ask you if I could get a hard copy to share with all my friends who visit AZ. I did find your magazine on-line and downloaded a copy to my PC. It is a great download but it is kind of hard to sit on my couch and read the PC version! So could you send me a copy, I will gladly pay for it if you desire. Just bill me and send it to my home address. Thanks for creating a terrific magazine!”

Arizona, was the last of the contiguous, the Lower 48, to fill in the American map. On February 14, 1912,with its wild and lawless frontier days behind it, Arizona joined the Union after surviving Civil War skirmishes, gunfights, and the Apache Wars. At that time Arizona’s population was approximately 215,000. In comparison, the population of neighboring state California was more than 11 times larger, at roughly 2.7 million.
